Baseball Extravaganza - May, 2003
Jerry
Colangelo can give you a unique, behind-the-scenes experience of
a Major League baseball game. He owns the team, after all. In May, 2003,
Jerry invited a group of select guests to have a fun-filled couple of
days to remember. A Western-style BBQ got things rolling the first evening.
An added pleasure was the company of former player and current Hall
of Fame broadcaster, Joe Garagiola.
The fun continued the next day with the options of golf, tennis, and
a cooking class entitled, “Breakfast with the Chef.” Lunch
together also provided the guests a chance to meet and interact with
the other event hosts including Dave Hannah of Impact XXI, Norm
Miller, chairman of Interstate Batteries, and Skip Ast, owner of
Shasta Pools, the largest pool builders in Arizona. They shared those
experiences and forces that have brought them success and significance
in life.
The
baseball experience began with a tour of Bank One Ballpark followed
by a chance before the game to meet with coaches and players of the
Arizona Diamondbacks, 2001 World Series Champions. Then up to the owner’s
suite to see the Diamondbacks challenge Barry Bonds and the San Francisco
Giants. What a game! The home team Diamondbacks tied the score in the
8th inning and won it in the bottom of the 9th by a score of 4-3. These
fans certainly went home happy.
